With the opening of the hostel, the museum and the Innovation lab, the second phase of the project is completed, which aims to consolidate the role of the Castle as a reference cultural center for citizens and tourists of all ages, also thanks to the new areas used as a museum, designed by the architect Carlo Lococo, which will be directed by Flavio Enei. Reopened permanently exactly one year ago by Regione Lazio, also thanks to the agreement with MiBACT and the Municipality of Santa Marinella, the Castle, whose management has been entrusted to the regional company LAZIOcrea, has been the target, in 12 months, of over 50 thousand visitors, and hosted exhibitions, shows, events, concerts, organized in collaboration with Coopculture, which saw the presence of some of the most famous personalities of the national culture.
The accommodation was built on the first floor, in the building that borders the inner courtyard where the Fortress faces, while on the ground floor there are the Sala della Legnaia, used as a common room for guests and reception. As reported, the structure can accommodate, at reasonable prices, 42 guests in 14 rooms. It is, therefore, the ideal solution for young tourists and families who want to combine the cultural holiday with the opportunity to have fun and practice water sports, including surfing, of which the beach of Santa Severa is one of the “paradises” “Italians.
As for the Innovation Lab, whose technological development has been entrusted to LAZIOcrea, with the contribution of Volkswagen Group Italia, it allows visitors to the new museum areas to enjoy the effects of augmented reality, or those of virtual reality. Through the technology, accompanied by the narrative voice of Mario Tozzi, a well-known geologist and scientific divulger, it is possible to make a virtual tour. The contents have been coupled to multitouch monitors or immersive video systems, even interactive, based on transparent films and / or glass. The technological solutions adopted, innovative and multimedia, have been applied within some structures of the Castle, such as the Fortress, the Saracen Tower, the Nostromo Hall, located on the ground floor of the building that delimits the internal courtyard.
Visitors can download a mobile App with virtual reality and augmented reality. An APP for IOS and Android, developed by LAZIOcrea, will offer all the information. On the other hand, in relation to congress activities and other services, the spaces for this kind of events, the use of which will be governed by a regulation and a rate card, are: a part of the first floor of the building called “Manica Lunga” “and the rooms on the first floor of the building called “Manica Corta”. As explained during the presentation, the goal is to allow the monumental complex the leap in quality necessary to strengthen its role as an engine of development, making it at the same time one of the main attractions for the tourist, cultural and food and wine offer of the territory and of the whole country.
