The Four Seasons” bi Vivaldi, Performance by Solisti Aquilani

Saturday May 25^th, at 6.00 pm, in the Boatswain hall, the I Solisti Aquilani and Daniele Orlando, violin, will perform in the concert “Le Quattro Stagioni” by Antonio Vivaldi. “A New Season – A. Vivaldi, The Four Seasons” is the great success of the I Solisti Aquilani project and Daniele Orlando who has just reached 3 million plays on Spotify. The artistic project, sponsored by the European Parliament and the T.E.S. (Ecological Solidarity Transition), born from the need to reflect and make people reflect on the role of Man within the Environment, thus offering the public an interpretative key that goes beyond a traditional execution.

Unusually for the period, Vivaldi published the concerti with accompanying sonnets (possibly written by the composer himself) that elucidated what it was in the spirit of each season that his music was intended to evoke. The concerti therefore stand as one of the earliest and most detailed examples of what would come to be called program music —i.e., music with a narrative element. Vivaldi took great pains to relate his music to the texts of the poems, translating the poetic lines themselves directly into the music on the page. For example, in the middle section of the Spring concerto, where the goatherd sleeps, his barking dog can be heard in the viola section. The music is elsewhere similarly evocative of other natural sounds. Vivaldi separated each concerto into three movements (fast–slow–fast), and, likewise, each linked sonnet into three sections.

Vivaldi, Le Quattro Stagioni” arriva nella suggestiva Sala Nostromo del Castello di Santa Severa: un eccezionale concerto ad ingresso gratuito, anticipato dalla proiezione del cortometraggio “Una Nuova Stagione”, ispirato a questa interpretazione visionaria del capolavoro di Antonio Vivaldi.

After the official presentation at the European Parliament in Brussels and the Chamber of Deputies of Rome, on May 25th “A New Season – A. Vivaldi, The Four Seasons” arrives in the suggestive Boatswain Hall of the Castle of Santa Severa. It’s an exceptional concert with free admission, anticipated by the screening of the short film “Una Nuova Stagione”, inspired by this visionary interpretation of Antonio Vivaldi’s masterpiece.
