JuniOrchestra of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia: open lessons and concerts

The JuniOrchestra of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia from July 28 to August 3 will be at the Castle of Santa Severa with its students for open lessons of Chamber Groups and two major concerts, Friday, August 2, at 21.00 with “Musiche dal Barocco ai nostri giorni (Music from the Baroque to our day)” and Saturday August 3rd always at 9 P.M. with the Juni Orchestra Final Concert. All events are free entry until seats will be exhausted.

The JuniOrchestra is the first Orchestra of children and young people created within the Italian lyrical-symphonic foundations. In just over a decade the JuniOrchestra has become one of the most interesting youth teams in the Italian scene. More than three hundred young people, divided into four groups by age group (ages 5 to 21) performing music from the great symphonic and chamber repertoire ranging from Rossini to Mozart, Vivaldi, Ciajkovsky, Bartok, Puccini, Beethoven and many others.

Under the responsibility of Gregorio Mazzarese, followed with professionalism and competence by Maestro Simone Genuini, conductor since its foundation, and by the Professors of the Orchestra of the Academy, the JuniOrchestra had the honor of being conducted, among others, by Antonio Pappano, Mario Brunello, Steven Mercurio, Yoel Levi, Fabio Biondi, Salvatore Accardo and Giovanni Sollima.

Awarded prestigious awards, such as the Anima Prize (2009), the Imperial Praemium (2013) and the International Guido d’Arezzo Prize (2017), the JuniOrchestra is engaged in productions of the “All in Santa Cecilia” Season, takes part in concerts and performances, holds the traditional Christmas concert in the Chamber of Deputies, played in the presence of the President of the Republic, but above all it is engaged in numerous performances for social purposes such as the Concert in favor of the Pediatric Unit of the Polyclinic Umberto I. In September 2017 he took part in Celebrity Fight Night, along with Italian and international artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Sharon Stone, Antonio Banderas, Elton John, Steve Tyler, Renato Zero and 2Cellos.

Simone Genuini Director. Born in Rome, he has been director, since his foundation, in the JuniOrchestra of the Academy of Santa Cecilia, at the helm in which he won, in 2013, the Imperial Praemium of the Arts, for the youth section. At the helm of the JuniOrchestra he performed, among other things, for the Ravello Festival, for the Season of the Chamber Orchestra of Mantua, for the Pontino Festival, for the Pergolesi-Spontini Foundation, several times at the Chamber of Deputies, for the RAI, and in more than 250 concerts for the Academy of Santa Cecilia, collaborating with soloists such as Angelo Persichilli, Emmanuel Pahud, Carlo Tamponi, Stefano Bollani, Igudesman & Joo. He was guest conductor of the Orchestra of the National Academy of Bucharest, The Soloists of the Opera House of Rome, Tuscan Orchestra, Abruzzese Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the University Roma Tre, The Aquilani Soloists, Chamber Orchestra “Benedetto Marcello”, and performed at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. A central element of his professional career is the constant research on the methodologies of the Directorate of Youth and Educational Orchestras; In 2013 the Ministry of University and Research entrusted him with the realization of “Shared Sounds”, training course for teachers on orchestral practice. He received the Piano Diplomas, Conducting,

Composition, Instrumentation for Band, Choral Music and Chorus Direction. His teachers were Carlo Maria Giulini, La Jia, Daniele Gatti. He is currently a lecturer in orchestral exercises at the Teramo Conservatory.
